What is Geomatics? Geomatics is concerned with the measurement, representation, analysis, management, retrieval and display of spatial data concerning both the Earth's physical features and the built environment. The principal diciplines embraced by Geomatics include the mapping sciences, land management, geographic information systems (GIS), environmental visualisation, geodesy, photogrammetry, remote sensing and surveying.

What is GPS? GPS means the Global Positioning System which is a satellite-based positioning system operated by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). This system provides all-weather, worldwide, 24-hour position and time information. The satellites broadcast signals that can be tracked by recievers for positioning and navigation purposes.The positioning accuracy of GPS ranges from 100 meters to less than 1 centimeter, depending upon the equipment and techniques used.
